Mofe Duncan Blasts Daddy Freeze: It Was Alex Ekubo’s Night, Not Yours

Mofe Duncan Blasts Daddy Freeze: It Was Alex Ekubo’s Night, Not Yours — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Nollywood actor Mofe Duncan has slammed media personality Daddy Freeze over comments he made at Alex Ekubo’s Service of Songs in Lekki. Daddy Freeze drew attention for wearing black to an all-white affair and questioned the presence of a sermon and worship elements at the event. In a post on Instagram, Daddy Freeze described the service as a makeshift concert and said he left in protest. He also criticized the preacher and gospel singer Mercy Chinwo for turning the tribute into a concert. Responding sharply, Duncan reminded Freeze that it was not a funeral but a night of tributes and worship—exactly what Alex Ekubo, known for his devotion, would have wanted. He pointed out that hymns were sung and that Alex’s family had emphasized his love for worship. Duncan added that Freeze had no right to criticize after ignoring the dress code. He urged him to respect the occasion and leave personal opinions out of a celebration meant to honor Alex’s memory.

Do you think Daddy Freeze's all-black outfit overshadowed Alex Ekubo's Service of Songs or is that too harsh?

Are we sure the all-black outfit really took more attention than Alex's service moment?

It's surprising Mofe Duncan would publicly call out Freeze when the main event was Alex Ekubo's tribute night, not a fashion show.

Sure, Alex Ekubo's night was central, but Duncan probably thought Freeze's remarks distracted from the core tribute.

I get that Freeze stood out, but isn't criticizing worship at a tribute more divisive than insightful?

Next time, event planners should specify dress codes and ceremony outline clearly to avoid confusion and unexpected critiques.
