Historic MOU Signed by Trump and Iran at Versailles to End Conflict
President Donald Trump and Iran’s leadership have signed a memorandum of understanding at the Palace of Versailles aimed at ending hostilities. The signing took place ahead of a state dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. The agreement includes plans to down-blend Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, lift a US naval blockade and unfreeze Iranian assets. In return, Iran pledges to restrain its foreign allies and refrain from pursuing nuclear weapons. Further formal signatures are expected in Geneva later this week. Iran’s negotiator described the deal as a record of American failure, while Trump defended it as vital to global economic stability. The accord also opens the Strait of Hormuz to toll-free shipping for 60 days, after which Iran may introduce fees for passage.
