Fani-Kayode Fires Back at Peter Obi Over NADECO Legacy

Fani-Kayode Fires Back at Peter Obi Over NADECO Legacy

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has accused Peter Obi of belittling the role of NADECO leaders who fought military rule. He called Obi’s remarks “a crying shame” and vowed they would not go unanswered. Fani-Kayode highlighted how NADECO members endured imprisonment, exile, torture and even death between 1992 and 1999. He contrasted their sacrifices with what he described as Obi’s past efforts on behalf of General Abacha’s regime. The former minister also criticised some politicians in the African Democratic Congress, including Senator David Mark, for past comments against the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 election. He urged Obi to honour the heavy cost paid by pro-democracy activists for Nigeria’s current freedoms.

A joint forum between NADECO veterans, Fani-Kayode and Peter Obi might actually clarify misunderstandings and honour historical sacrifices.
