Why Nigeria’s Biggest Obstacle Is Ourselves, Not the Government

I believe Nigeria’s problems start with us, not the government. We watch bribery, nepotism, and tribalism unfold and then elect leaders who mirror our own behaviour. We accept corruption when a politician shares rice and cash in our streets. We defend governors from our own tribe and joke about generators, sachet water, and SUVs instead of demanding accountability. Our deep religious devotion hasn’t curbed graft, and our best minds keep leaving. Until we refuse bribes, hold officials responsible, and rebuild our communities, Nigeria will remain the country we deserve.
