Temptation Begins Within: Guarding Your Heart
Temptation doesn’t start outside—it springs from the desires already in our hearts. James 1:14–15 explains that when lust takes root, it leads to sin and ultimately to death. Avoiding tempting situations may help, but true victory comes from diligent guard over the heart. We overcome fleshly desires by walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16) and by shining the light of God’s Word into our deepest longings. Prayer: Dear Father, thank You for Your Word that exposes hidden desires. I choose to walk in the Spirit and live above the influence of the flesh, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. For further reflection, read James 1:13–15, Galatians 5:16–21, and Matthew 5:27–28. Today's reading plan includes Acts 7:1–53 and 2 Chronicles 29–30; next, read 2 Corinthians 5:1–10 and Isaiah 3.
