Kano Governor Condemns APC Youths for Flaunting Underwear During First Lady’s Visit
Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has condemned the display of underwear by some APC youths during the First Lady’s recent visit, calling it disrespectful and a breach of cultural and religious norms. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, the governor distanced himself and his administration from the incident, which many saw as mocking his political mentor. He spoke during a special prayer session at the Government House, where 4,444 Quranic reciters gathered to pray for peace and stability. Governor Yusuf warned those involved against repeating such behaviour and cautioned politicians against exploiting young people for political gain. He urged all leaders to promote decency, focus on policy, and preserve Kano’s reputation for discipline and hospitality. Represented by Alhaji Aliyu Harazumi, the Emir of Kano pledged continued Quranic recitations to foster lasting peace. Islamic scholars at the event also stressed the importance of moral discipline and collective responsibility in sustaining unity.
