How Youth-Led Clubs Are Reimagining Domestic Adventure Travel in Nigeria
In recent years, Nigerian youth have quietly reshaped domestic and adventure tourism. Grassroots groups like Discover Ekiti Tourism Club have turned Ekiti State into an exploration hub. Their flagship event, Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari, now draws hundreds eager to uncover hidden wonders such as the Ugele–Iho Oloko Cave. Armed with smartphones and social media, these young explorers share stories that spark national interest. They partner with local communities to preserve heritage and create small-scale economic opportunities. Many participants say these experiences foster a deeper sense of ownership and pride in Nigeria’s landscapes. With backing from the state tourism bureau and local government, these initiatives are expanding beyond Ekiti. They offer safe, affordable, and culturally rich adventures. In doing so, they are laying the groundwork for a vibrant domestic tourism culture across Nigeria.
