House Urges Tinubu to Launch Aggressive Campaign Against Bandits and Kidnappers
The House of Representatives has pressed President Tinubu to adopt a swift and comprehensive security strategy to flush out bandits, terrorists and kidnappers from their strongholds. The motion, sponsored by Rep. Ibe Osonwa, highlighted the alarming rise in school abductions and attacks on places of worship. Lawmakers warned that these incidents are disrupting education and undermining citizens’ constitutional rights. Citing Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution, they reminded the government that protecting lives and property is its primary duty. The House condemned mass abductions, banditry and attacks in the strongest terms. Members demanded the immediate deployment of an unrelenting security plan, the release of all captives and warned that service chiefs should resign if they fail to restore public confidence within a set timeframe.
