Half-Year Reset: Reflect on Your Wins Before Chasing New Goals

Half-Year Reset: Reflect on Your Wins Before Chasing New Goals — 1 of 7
1 / 7

Today marks the start of the second half of the year. Instead of racing ahead, I paused long enough to appreciate how far I’ve come. I’ve never been one for ambitious New Year’s resolutions. Long-term plans felt overwhelming. Smaller goals—day by day, week by week—have always suited me better. Living in Nigeria reminds me that effort alone isn’t always enough. Hearing leaders suggest young people just sell akara or roasted corn might sound dismissive. To me, it’s fuel. This half-year, I’m determined to prove that it’s still possible to build the life I dream of despite the odds. I’ve learned to count blessings before ambitions. When I feel behind, I remind myself of how much I’ve grown. I plan to celebrate small wins, return to simple journaling, and see myself through kinder eyes as I move forward.
