Alan Osmond, Eldest Osmond Brother, Dies at 76 After 40 Years Battling MS
Alan Osmond passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 76 after a four-decade fight with multiple sclerosis. He first rose to fame on The Andy Williams Show, singing alongside brothers Wayne, Merrill and Jay. With Jimmy and Donny later joining, the Osmonds achieved global stardom in the 1970s with hits like One Bad Apple and Love Me for a Reason. As the group’s eldest member, Alan played guitar and piano, co-writing and co-producing many of their songs. Diagnosed in 1987, he famously declared, “I may have MS, but MS does not have me!” He spent years speaking at MS events, sharing his story and pushing for research. Though he stepped back from performing after 2007, he reunited with his brothers for a 2018 show and released his memoir One Way Ticket two years ago. His wife Suzanne and eight sons were at his bedside. His positive spirit and advocacy work left a lasting impact on fans and those living with MS.
