How Olakunle Williams Built a Billion-Dollar Gas Empire in West Africa
By Chinedu Nsofor Over the past five years, Olakunle Williams has quietly transformed Nigeria’s energy sector. As founder and president of Tetracore Energy Group, he leads one of the country’s largest gas trading portfolios, supplying over 90 MMscfd to industrial users and powering more than 300 MW of embedded generation. Tetracore’s integrated model spans gas sourcing, compression, distribution, logistics and power generation. The company has deployed major AutoGas facilities along key corridors in Edo, Ogun and Lagos states, launched a 45 MMscfd piped gas system in Benin City, and introduced virtual pipeline solutions in Ghana. Beyond distribution, Tetracore is developing gas-to-liquids and urea plants to produce fuels and fertilizers. The group is also building a modular IPP and a data centre in Ogun State, combining reliable embedded power with digital infrastructure for SMEs and manufacturers. Williams’ leadership has earned him national industry awards and a doctorate in business administration. As deputy chairman of the Association of Local Gas Distribution, he shapes policy and drives local participation in Nigeria’s gas revolution.
