FG Applauds Smooth NECO CBT SSCE Launch, Vows Equal Access for All Candidates
The Federal Government has praised the smooth rollout of NECO’s Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the 2026 SSCE. The Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, monitored the Abuja exercise and expressed satisfaction with how it went. She said the CBT format helped curb malpractice by giving each candidate a unique question order. The minister added that there were no major technical issues and most students adapted quickly to the new system. The government plans to expand CBT across the country in a gradual, inclusive process. Officials will work with the National Assembly, state governments and private partners to improve internet, electricity and computer access so no student is left behind. NECO’s Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, revealed that 1,378,048 candidates registered for the exam, including over 700,000 females. He said results will be released on or before the first week of September 2026.
