IGP Disu Warns Against Sharing Old and Misleading Police Videos

IGP Disu Warns Against Sharing Old and Misleading Police Videos

Inspector-General Rilwan Disu has appealed to Nigerians to stop circulating outdated or manipulated footage of police operations. Speaking at the Police Resource Centre in Abuja, he warned that indiscriminate recording during routine and sensitive duties harms officers’ morale and undermines public trust. He stressed that recycled or falsely dated videos fuel misinformation, create panic, and strain community relations. He urged social media users to verify content before sharing. Disu also revealed that policing now demands round-the-clock duties and noted that the FCT Command lost about 140 officers last year to violence and accidents. He called for public understanding and support.
