Jigawa State Partners with StarAgri to Empower 20,000 Dry-Season Rice Farmers
Jigawa State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with StarAgri West Africa Limited to boost support for 20,000 rice farmers engaged in dry-season farming across the state. Under the agreement, participating farmers will receive a 30% subsidy on agricultural inputs to reduce production costs and improve profitability. The state government will also distribute 6,000 solar-powered water pumps under a flexible two-year repayment plan to cut fuel and energy expenses for irrigation. Governor Umar Namadi described the collaboration as a milestone in the administration’s agricultural transformation agenda and pledged ongoing technical support to drive food security and sustainable farming.
