Why Neither Side Is Winning: Lessons from the US–Israel–Iran Conflict

Let’s be honest: this war has no clear victor. Weeks of heavy strikes have neither toppled Iran nor delivered a swift win for the US and Israel. Now both sides are talking ceasefire and setting conditions. Military power alone doesn’t guarantee quick victory. Iran’s core systems remain intact. It still wields influence across the Middle East and controls the Strait of Hormuz. That gives it leverage, even if it hasn’t “won.” The US isn’t seeking a ceasefire out of weakness. War is costly for all of us. Rising oil prices, inflation and slower economies hit Nigerians hard. Preventing a wider conflict can outweigh the push for total victory. Modern wars end at the negotiation table, not on the battlefield. Survival becomes the real strategy. Drop your thoughts: can any side really claim success in this conflict?

It's telling that despite weeks of heavy strikes, neither Iran's leadership nor US and Israeli forces has budged significantly.

I'm not convinced that a ceasefire talk means real progress; both sides could just be buying time.

Encouraging direct, impartial mediation might be the only way to de-escalate effectively instead of further strikes.
