Atiku Says Tinubu Has Adopted His 21-Year-Old Power Reform Blueprint
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says the Tinubu administration has adopted a decentralised electricity-generation model he advocated more than two decades ago. Through his spokesperson, Atiku said the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, recently acknowledged that Nigeria can no longer rely only on large centralised power plants. He described this as a late acceptance of his proposal to use a mix of hydro, solar, gas and other energy sources. Atiku also criticised the government over electricity tariffs, arguing that reforms to improve supply should have come before higher charges for consumers.
