FRSC Reports 27% Drop in Crashes During Eid-el-Kabir, Saving Hundreds of Lives

FRSC Reports 27% Drop in Crashes During Eid-el-Kabir, Saving Hundreds of Lives

The Federal Road Safety Corps recorded a 27% decline in road crashes and a 22% drop in victims during the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations compared to the same period in 2025. Crash cases fell from 191 to 142, while those involved decreased from 1,364 to 1,064. Injuries also saw a 25.4% reduction, dropping to 430 this year from 576 last year. The decline reflects proactive patrols, traffic management, public education campaigns, strengthened enforcement and improved emergency response across major highways. The Corps Marshal commended FRSC personnel, Special Marshals and partner agencies for their dedication. He urged all road users to maintain safe driving habits beyond festive periods, stressing that road safety is a shared responsibility.

A 27% decline is impressive, but I wonder if other factors like weather or traffic volume affected those numbers.
