Police Block Gbenga Daniel’s Empowerment Event as Ogun APC Feud Intensifies
Political tension within the Ogun State APC escalated on Wednesday when police sealed off Obanta Hall in Ijebu-Ode. The venue was hosting an empowerment programme organised by the former governor and senator representing Ogun East. An armoured personnel carrier and several patrol vans blocked the entrance. Organisers, beneficiaries and guests were denied entry from early morning, forcing many to turn back amid heavy security. The initiative under the Gateway Front Foundation aimed to support about 10,000 constituents. It follows reports that Senator Daniel was barred from a recent APC stakeholders’ meeting where Governor Dapo Abiodun was endorsed as a consensus candidate. Officials also barricaded the Obanta Club ahead of a BATOGD community rally. Observers warn these actions deepen divisions between the governor’s and Daniel’s loyalists. Neither the Ogun State Government nor the Police Command has issued an official statement.
