Ex-Kano Governor Kabiru Gaya Confirms Return to APC After Closed-Door Abuja Talks
Former Kano State Governor and NDC leader Senator Kabiru Gaya has agreed to rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) following a private meeting in Abuja. The one-on-one discussion with APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda reportedly lasted about 45 minutes at his residence on Yaounde Street. Sources familiar with the meeting say Gaya confirmed his return to the APC during their closed-door talks. This move comes shortly after he resigned from the party on April 5 and briefly joined the African Democratic Congress and later the NDC. Gaya’s decision follows his loss of the NDC senatorial ticket for Kano South ahead of the 2027 elections. He previously served as governor between 1992 and 1993 and represented Kano South in the Senate from 2015 to 2023 on the APC platform before losing his re-election bid to NNPP’s Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila.
