Operatives of the Police Special Fraud Unit in Ikoyi have arraigned a resident of Mile 2 Estate for allegedly obtaining N17.5 million under false pretences. The prosecution says the defendant claimed to own a three-bedroom apartment at Banana Estate, Alpha Beach Road. After the complainant paid, the rightful owner denied any sale and revealed the property was under mortgage. Police charge the suspect with obtaining money by false pretence and issuing dishonoured cheques. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of N3.5 million with a surety of like sum. The trial begins on June 28, 2026.
