Ebonyi NDC Deputy Chairman and Secretary Defect to PDP Ahead of 2027 Polls
In Ebonyi State, NDC deputy chairman Okechukwu Idenyi, party secretary Solomon Adum, and several members have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 elections. They say the move aims to strengthen the opposition and foster inclusive governance across the state. PDP chairman Chukwuma Igwe received them at a rally in Isu, Onicha LGA, calling the defections a major boost to the party’s influence. He assured the newcomers of equal opportunities and urged them to work with existing members to advance the PDP’s objectives. Solomon Adum explained that the decision followed extensive consultations with their supporters and reflected confidence in the PDP’s vision for unity and sustainable development. The defectors pledged to expand grassroots support, promote peace, internal democracy, and issue-based politics. Felix Igboke, PDP flag-bearer for the Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo federal constituency, described the party as a “moving train” and expressed confidence that the new entrants would help secure victory in 2027.
