Nigeria Must Create Opportunities to Curb Mass Emigration, PO Warns
The recent conclusion of the prisoner exchange between Nigeria and Ethiopia offers relief. It reaffirms the importance of protecting every Nigerian’s right to dignity, no matter where they are. We salute the work of our Foreign Affairs Minister and the Attorney General alongside their Ethiopian counterparts. Yet it is heartbreaking that four Nigerians died in custody during these protracted talks. Their families deserve our deepest sympathy. This episode highlights a bigger problem: our youth are driven to risky migrations in search of better lives. Until Nigeria builds a stronger economy, a robust education system, and rewards hard work, we will face the injuries of mass emigration. As these citizens return to serve their sentences, let us focus on rehabilitation and reintegration as part of a national plan to empower every Nigerian at home.
