Pennsylvania Man Faces 5,538 Charges Over Alleged Abuse of Underage Girl

A 37-year-old Pennsylvania man has been charged with 5,538 offences after prosecutors alleged he repeatedly sexually abused an underage girl over several years. Court records show that most of the charges are felonies, including rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and related offences. The girl reportedly told police that the abuse began when she was about 12 years old and occurred almost daily. Prosecutors say the case may involve the highest number of charges filed in a single criminal case in the state. The accused is being held in Clearfield County Prison pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 12.
