Edo APC Primary: Why Ize-Iyamu Must Respect the Governor and Back Ogbeide-Ihama

Edo APC Primary: Why Ize-Iyamu Must Respect the Governor and Back Ogbeide-Ihama

In the recent APC primary for Edo South Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama topped the field with 27,154 votes, defeating Senator Neda Imasuen (13,580) and Pastor Osagie Ize-Ihimu (6,785). Supporters of Ize-Ihimu have dragged Governor Monday Okpebholo into heated online attacks. As Edo’s first citizen and party leader, the governor deserves respect. Pastor Ize-Ihimu should rein in his camp and curb any abusive language. Many party stakeholders view Ogbeide-Ihama as the unifying choice. His legislative experience and loyalty to the governor’s agenda position him to strengthen the APC’s structure in Edo South ahead of 2027. Now the APC National Working Committee must decide whether to uphold this popular primary result or risk deepening internal divisions ahead of the general election.

It's striking that Ize-Ihimu managed only 6,785 votes compared to Ogbeide-Ihama's 27,154, suggesting a significant gap in support.

Might vote count alone truly reflect grassroots support? There could be regional factors or turnout issues worth exploring.

I no see why Ize-Ihimu go dey blame the governor when the vote tallies clearly favoured Ogbeide-Ihama instead.

Given the numbers, it might be wise for all factions to initiate constructive dialogue and plan a unified campaign strategy.
