Drama in Abuja Court as Justice Crack’s Bail Hearing Is Delayed

Justice Chidiebere, known as Justice Crack, appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja on May 14 for his bail hearing in a cybercrime case. His lawyer of record, Marshal Abubakar, withdrew the pending bail application after a dispute with another counsel, Olufemi Balogun, over who was leading the defence. The office of the attorney general also announced it would take over the prosecution. With no active bail application, the court could not proceed. Balogun said he would file a fresh bail request. Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the hearing until May 18 and ordered the prosecution to open its case or risk having it struck out for lack of diligent prosecution.
