Ganduje’s Eldest Son Defects to NDC, Seeks House of Reps Ticket in Kano
Abdulaziz Umar Ganduje, eldest son of former APC national chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has obtained the NDC nomination form to contest the Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency in Kano. A longtime member of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Abdulaziz broke ranks with his father’s APC circle to join the opposition party. A video circulating online shows him briefing former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso on his plans for the upcoming election. This move deepens the rivalry between Kwankwaso and Ganduje, whose political partnership ended years ago. Abdulaziz previously clashed with his mother over an alleged financial dispute and even petitioned the EFCC. He aims to win the same seat his brother contested under the APC in 2023 but lost to the NNPP, despite their father’s influence as governor at the time.
