INEC Reinstates David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola Following Supreme Court Ruling

There’s been a shake-up in the African Democratic Congress leadership. Today, INEC updated its portal to list Senator David Mark as National Chairman again and former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary. INEC had earlier removed their names after a Court of Appeal order, triggering protests and legal challenges. Other officials reinstated include Dr Mani Ahmad as Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as Financial Secretary, and Prof Oserheimen Osunbor as Legal Adviser. On Thursday, the Supreme Court set aside the Court of Appeal’s directive, calling its extension legally unsustainable. The apex court also ordered that the pending Federal High Court case on ADC leadership be heard without delay. The Mark-led faction hailed the development as a win for due process and party unity. However, the main suit challenging the leadership’s validity still awaits hearing at the Federal High Court.
