Former AG Malami and Son Plead Not Guilty to Amended Terrorism and Firearms Charges
Former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami and his son, Abdulaziz, appeared in court on Wednesday to plead not guilty to a five-count amended charge. The Federal Government’s updated indictment alleges terrorism financing, aiding terrorism and unlawful possession of a Sturm Magnum firearm with ammunition. They were first arraigned by the Department of State Services on February 3. Prosecution counsel Akinlolu Kehinde asked the court to replace the original February 2 charge with the April 14 amendment. Defence lawyer Shaibu Arua confirmed receipt and will review the new counts before proceeding with the plea. Both defendants had earlier denied the initial charges and were granted bail pending trial.
