FUTO Promotes Abia-Born Animal Scientist Victor Odoemelam to Professor

The Federal University of Technology, Owerri has approved the promotion of Dr. Victor Udodirim Odoemelam to the rank of Professor in the Department of Animal Science and Technology. His rise marks a major milestone for the animal scientist whose research on plant-based livestock solutions has earned international recognition. A native of Umuezewuzie Ikpabo Nneato in Abia State, Prof. Odoemelam brings over 20 years of academic experience. He holds a B. Agric from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Animal Production and Livestock Management. His career includes faculty roles and leadership in university chapel boards, as well as scholarships and grants from the Federal Government, World Bank–assisted projects, and international development agencies. Prof. Odoemelam’s work focuses on phytogenic feed additives to improve livestock health and reduce methane emissions. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers and supervised numerous research projects. Colleagues and community leaders from Abia, Benue, and Imo states have praised his promotion as a testament to dedication and scholarly excellence.
