The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has ordered the immediate arrest of Mele Kolo Kyari. He faces questions over alleged ₦210 trillion gaps in NNPCL accounts between 2017 and 2023. Chairman Ibrahim Dankwambo secured the warrant after a voice vote on 10 June 2026. Kyari’s claim of being in Germany for health reasons was dismissed as unacceptable given Nigeria’s rising debt and unaccounted funds. Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Onyeka Nwebonyi urged that Kyari appear in person. They stressed that, as a former Group CEO, he cannot send a representative and must answer the auditors’ findings directly.
