Forest Service Officer Alleges Delta Police Seized His Knife and Blocked His Recording
I’m an officer with the Nigerian Forest Security Service. Recently, I was stopped by Delta State Police at Oghara junction over a box of prescribed medication in my car. They claimed carrying prescription drugs is unlawful and said I couldn’t even hold a simple knife as an NFSS officer. When I tried to record them, I showed their team a Federal High Court order allowing civilians to film police at work without consent. They insisted I needed permission, tried to break my camera and even attempted to seize my knife, which belongs to my agency. They refused to produce any law requiring consent for recording and threatened to detain me if I pressed for evidence. A viral video of the incident has since circulated on social media.
