ECN and RSE Engineering Partner to Boost Nigeria’s Power with Advanced Cogeneration
RSE Engineering Nigeria Limited and the Energy Commission of Nigeria have signed an MoU to drive the uptake of advanced cogeneration technology across key sectors. The move aims to generate electricity while capturing waste heat for heating or cooling, offering system efficiencies of up to 90% compared to 35–55% from separate generation. During the signing ceremony in Abuja, the Commission’s Director-General highlighted the need for collaboration, research and innovation to tackle Nigeria’s energy challenges. The Ukrainian Embassy’s Economic Secretary pledged to share modular cogeneration solutions from Ukraine’s decentralized power systems. RSE Engineering’s CEO noted that European cogenerator models have operated successfully for over 15 years and will help address Nigeria’s persistent electricity shortages. The pact will support local capacity development, research partnerships and sustainable energy deployment.
