Veteran Fuji star Salawa Abeni has dismissed her ex-husband Kollington Ayinla’s 2025 assertion that she remains married to him decades after their split. In an Oyinmomo TV interview, she insisted she never walked away from the marriage out of pride or stubbornness and stressed the efforts she made to keep their home intact for their three children. The 65-year-old singer revealed that the breakup was so significant she documented the experience in a post-divorce album. She noted her mother’s belief in the sanctity of marriage to explain why leaving was not a decision she took lightly. When questioned on whether the marriage boosted her career, Salawa thanked fans for their concern but chose not to elaborate. She emphasised that divorce shouldn’t be seen as evidence of bad character and credited destiny for the union’s end.
