Osun Police Debunk Viral ‘Bandit’ Arrest Clips
The Osun State Police Command has warned that recent videos circulating online about bandit arrests in the state are misleading. In one incident, a 38-year-old man was detained on Lameco–Oke-Fia Road on June 3. Officers recovered a knife, camouflage trouser, local charms and clothing. Further checks revealed he suffers from a mental condition. He was moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department and then referred for psychiatric care. On the same day, another video claimed bandits had been arrested in Imesi-Ile. Police found that the individuals were cattle rearers involved in a farmland damage dispute. The case was transferred to the SCID and later withdrawn when the complainants agreed to an amicable resolution. The Commissioner of Police urges residents to verify information through official channels before sharing and to report suspicious activities promptly. The command reaffirms its commitment to protecting lives and property across Osun State.
