ADC Leadership Suit in Abuja Court Adjourned Sine Die
The Federal High Court in Abuja has indefinitely adjourned the suit filed by African Democratic Congress chieftain Nafiu Bala Gombe against party leaders under former Senate President David Mark. Justice Emeka Nwite put the case on hold after the plaintiff revealed he had asked the Chief Judge to transfer the matter to another judge. Lawyers for the defendants accused the plaintiff of forum-shopping and trying to frustrate the accelerated hearing ordered by the Court of Appeal and upheld by the Supreme Court. The judge ruled he could not act on the transfer request without hearing all parties and must await any directive from the Chief Judge. Gombe seeks to restrain Mark, Rauf Aregbesola and others from claiming ADC leadership over alleged breaches of the party constitution and electoral laws.
