Wike’s Five Legal Victories That Left Nigerians Confused
Governor Nyesom Wike has secured five major court rulings that overturned key decisions by the PDP. In February 2023, Justice James Omotosho nullified Wike’s expulsion from the party. In April 2024, Justice Inyang Ekwo reversed a second expulsion. In March 2026, Justice John Kayode quashed a third attempt to expel him. In October 2025, Justice Omotosho set aside the Ibadan convention caretaker committee’s outcome and reinstated Wike’s team. Then in June 2025, a Supreme Court decision nullified Umar Damagun’s role as acting PDP chairman and restored Samuel Anyawu, an ally of Wike. These consecutive legal reversals have sparked widespread confusion and debate among party members and the public.
