Presidency Orders DSS, EFCC to Unmask Criminal Network Behind Fake Agency Scam
The Presidency has directed the DSS and EFCC to expose collaborators working with Prince Matthew Adeniyi’s fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. Adeniyi is accused of forging appointment letters and using dozens of bank accounts to masquerade as a government agency. The Senior Special Assistant on Media, Temitope Ajayi, said internal insiders in key institutions enabled the fraud. Investigators have been tasked to trace how Adeniyi opened a Central Bank account, hosted foreign envoys and handled billions of naira. Officials from the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs first raised the alarm. Adeniyi now faces eight criminal counts at the Federal High Court in Abuja and will appear later this month. Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has challenged the Presidency, calling on the ICPC to independently investigate both the Chief of Staff and Adeniyi over the alleged N24bn budget for the non-existent agency.
