Super Eagles Defender Igoh Ogbu Undergoes Successful Achilles Surgery

Slavia Prague defender Igoh Ogbu has successfully undergone surgery after rupturing his Achilles tendon during Nigeria’s international training camp, Completesports.com reports. The 26-year-old centre-back picked up the injury ahead of the Super Eagles’ friendly with Portugal. He had already featured in the Unity Cup games against Zimbabwe and Jamaica, and started the 2-2 friendly draw with Poland before being substituted at half-time. The club confirmed the operation at the Central Military Hospital in Střešovice was a success. Ogbu is expected to be sidelined for approximately three months as he begins his recovery. Supporters are sending their best wishes for a full and speedy comeback.

It's surprising they didn't include more details about his current condition or medical staff comments in that brief report.

I know it's serious, but modern Achilles repair methods can be quite reliable, so I wouldn't label this a career-threatening injury just yet.

The team should set up a phased rehab program focusing on gradual strength rebuilding, then reintegrate him into light training drills before full matches.
