PANCSOA Rejects Calls for Tinubu’s Resignation Amid Security Challenges

PANCSOA Rejects Calls for Tinubu’s Resignation Amid Security Challenges

The Pan-Nigeria Civil Society and Opposition Alliance (PANCSOA) has condemned demands for President Bola Tinubu to resign amid rising insecurity. The group labels these calls as nonsensical, irresponsible and politically motivated. PANCSOA argues that, with less than seven months to the 2027 general elections, such demands serve destabilising agendas rather than national interest. The alliance highlights the administration’s and military’s ongoing efforts to tackle security threats. As an opposition organisation, PANCSOA urges parties and groups to focus on winning votes instead of overheating the polity with reckless statements. It also calls on security and intelligence agencies to monitor clandestine groups that may aim to destabilise the country.

Given PANCSOA's stance, do you think pushing for Tinubu's resignation helps or hinders addressing our security crisis?

Instead of demanding resignations, civil society should propose clear security benchmarks and hold government accountable for meeting them within the remaining months.
