West Ham Files FIFA Complaint Over Wan-Bissaka Release Delay
West Ham United has lodged a formal complaint with FIFA after DR Congo held up Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s return ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final against Leeds United. The club says it had arranged a flight to bring the right-back back to London, but he remained in Kinshasa to celebrate DR Congo’s first World Cup qualification since 1974. Wan-Bissaka, who joined West Ham from Manchester United in August 2024 for £15 million, has made 22 Premier League appearances this season and provided three assists. He was named the club’s player of the year in 2024-25 under manager Nuno Espírito Santo. Kyle Walker-Peters deputised at right-back in Wan-Bissaka’s absence and is expected to start in Friday’s crucial league clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers. West Ham currently sit in the relegation zone, one point behind safety as they fight to climb out of danger.
