Why I Avoid Most Modern Church Gatherings

Why I Avoid Most Modern Church Gatherings

I rarely attend or recommend organized churches today. When I say this, people often cite Hebrews 10:25 about gathering with brethren. But 2 Corinthians 6:17 calls us to come out and be separate, avoiding the unclean. In many churches, the love of money and human praise has become idolatry. Idolatry means loving anything more than God. Scripture asks, “What union can there be between God’s temple and idols?” (2 Cor. 6:16). Jesus warned against calling anyone on earth “father” or “teacher,” since our only Father and Teacher is in heaven (Matt. 23:9–10).

It's interesting that you cite two opposing scriptures about gathering and separation, yet many churches blend both messages in practice.

It might help to create small, independent prayer circles focused solely on mutual accountability and service, avoiding large institutional distractions.
