OFAAC's Cultural Renaissance: Revitalizing Anioma Heritage

The Organization for the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC) is leading a vibrant cultural revival in Delta State. It reconnects Anioma people with ancestral traditions through festivals, publications, and community events. Since its founding in 2003, OFAAC has grown from modest gatherings into a major force. Its 2026 Anioma Heritage Project documents local history with field research, interviews, and publications. Early discoveries include ancient migration links and sacred burial sites that deepen regional identity. The 2026 Easter festival brought together over 150 cultural troupes under the theme “Culture: A Tool for Development.” By uniting traditional leaders, youth, and government, OFAAC has built a model for using heritage as a foundation for future growth.

I'm curious, which Anioma art form or tradition do you really want those festivals to bring back?

It's interesting that OFAAC has grown steadily since 2003, but the scale of community events still seems limited outside Delta State.

I no see why festivals and publications alone go revive heritage if community members no carry am as lifestyle beyond events.

Local schools could partner with OFAAC to include Anioma history in their curriculum, ensuring traditions reach younger generations consistently.
