Kwankwaso Endorses NDC’s Plan to Zone 2027 Presidential Ticket to the South

At the NDC national convention on May 9, delegates approved zoning the party’s 2027 presidential ticket to southern Nigeria and reserving the 2031 ticket for the North. Former Kano governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso backed the arrangement as a way to strengthen unity and ensure fairness in leadership rotation. He said this decision would give the South its turn in national leadership while maintaining federal character. Kwankwaso warned that Nigeria’s ongoing economic and security crises stem from poor governance. He pointed to declining living standards, rising insecurity, and neglected infrastructure and urged Nigerians to register and vote in future elections.
