Walking by the Spirit: Lessons from Galatians 5:13-26

We are called to freedom in Christ, but that freedom isn’t for self-indulgence. Instead, we’re urged to serve one another in love and live by the Spirit. The desires of the flesh conflict with the Spirit. Actions like jealousy, anger and impurity keep us from inheriting God’s kingdom. In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control—sets us free from law and flesh. Because we belong to Christ, we’ve put the flesh to death. Let’s keep in step with the Spirit and avoid pride, envy and strife.

You're right. Choosing humility and active kindness daily keeps us free in Christ while serving others.

It's interesting that Galatians warns freedom isn't for self-indulgence but then lists fleshly desires to avoid. Seems like a strict standard.

I'm not convinced jealousy or anger always come from fleshly desires; sometimes they spark growth when addressed honestly.

Start each morning by identifying one selfless act you can do for someone around you to live by the Spirit today.
