Ilaje Ugboland Hosts Ask Tinubu for Role in Pipeline Surveillance Contracts
Communities in Ilaje Ugboland, Ondo State, have written to President Bola Tinubu. They want inclusion in pipeline and oil and gas facility monitoring in the Niger Delta. The open letter was signed by Prince Adejugba Ogundere, chairman of HOSTCOM’s Ondo chapter. He highlighted Ilaje’s strategic position as a major oil corridor with both offshore and onshore assets. The communities cited key Chevron fields and operations by Conoil, Sahara Energy, and indigenous firms in their area. They pointed to the Petroleum Industry Act’s host community provisions and urged formal roles in surveillance to cut vandalism and boost security. They believe local involvement will improve accountability and sustain peace. The group asked the federal government to allocate them a clear slot in the surveillance framework. The Presidency has not yet responded.
