339 Suspected Cannabis Wraps Seized in Kogi as Two Men Are Arrested
Police in Kogi State have arrested two men and recovered 339 wraps of substances suspected to be cannabis during a stop-and-search operation in Kabba. The operation, led by Commissioner of Police Naziru Bello Kankarofi on May 9, saw officers intercept a Honda Pilot Jeep (LSD 456 GE) driven by 52-year-old Chris Amos, with Bilat Joseph as passenger. A search of the vehicle revealed the concealed wraps. Initial probes indicate the pair picked up the consignment from Ado-Ekiti on the instruction of an individual identified only as “Alhaji,” whose identity is still under investigation. Both suspects remain in custody, and the exhibits have been secured. The command has assured diligent prosecution of everyone connected and urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities. They stressed that curbing illicit drug trafficking is key to reducing violent crimes in the state.
