I Mocked My Former Crush About Being Single, and She Blocked Me

I recently ran into a former schoolmate I had a crush on more than 15 years ago. Back then, she was very popular on campus and often reminded me that she had many men asking her out. When we met at a mall last week, we exchanged numbers and later spoke on the phone. I learned that she is still single, and I thought there might be a chance for us. However, I brought up the comments she made in school and asked what happened to all the men who were supposedly everywhere. She became silent, ended the call, and has since blocked me on her phone and WhatsApp. Did I go too far, or was I wrong to raise the issue after all these years?

What exactly did you say about her being single, and did it come across as a joke or a jab?

That detail really matters; teasing about someone's relationship status can easily feel hurtful.

Reconnecting after more than fifteen years can carry old feelings, so a teasing comment may land heavier than expected.

Her old campus popularity does not automatically make mocking her current relationship status fair.

If you value the reconnection, give her space and send one straightforward apology without defending the joke.
