Tinubu Launches Major FCT Road Upgrades to Ease Abuja Traffic

Tinubu Launches Major FCT Road Upgrades to Ease Abuja Traffic

President Bola Tinubu has flagged off two new road projects in the Federal Capital Territory. The first involves service carriageways along Southern Parkway from Arterial Road S20 to Ring Road II in Gaduwa. This completes the original design of a key corridor and is set to ease congestion in Durumi, Gudu, Gaduwa and neighbouring communities. The second project is Collector Road CO1 in the Institution and Research District, linking the Nile University axis to Ring Road III. It will improve access to universities, research centres and legal hubs, bolstering Abuja’s status as a centre for education and innovation. Part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, these projects aim to boost mobility, reduce travel times and lower transport costs. The President commended FCT officials for quality delivery and asked residents to cooperate with contractors during construction.

I no believe say just upgrading these service roads go completely fix Abuja's traffic problems without broader planning changes.

Pairing these road upgrades with improved public transit routes and designated bus lanes could really maximize traffic decongestion benefits.
