Nigerian Centre-Back Victory Akpe Joins FC Basel Until 2030

Swiss Super League side FC Basel have secured the signing of 19-year-old Nigerian centre-back Victory Akpe on a four-year deal that runs until summer 2030. Akpe arrives from Hungarian top-flight club Zalaegerszegi TE FC after making his mark at FK Banga Gargždai in Lithuania. Basel’s technical director highlighted his physical presence, aerial strength and pace as key qualities to reinforce the defence. The young defender says he is eager to settle quickly, focus fully on the upcoming season and treat every match like a final as he fights for every ball. Akpe featured 32 times in Lithuania and appeared in UEFA Conference League qualifiers before playing 16 league matches and a Hungarian Cup final this year.
