Court of Appeal Dismisses PDP Appeal Over Party Election Dispute
In CA/ABJ/CV/1613/25, the Court of Appeal dismissed the PDP’s challenge to a Federal High Court ruling on internal party elections. The court held that actions by a suspended National Legal Adviser were invalid and confirmed that key reliefs involved INEC’s statutory powers, not party affairs. It also recognised the right of members to seek judicial review when election timelines and valid notice rules are breached. All four issues – fair hearing, jurisdiction, locus standi and validity of judgment – were resolved for the respondents. The Federal High Court’s judgment was upheld, and the appellants were ordered to pay ₦2 million in costs.
